  • CALL OF INTEREST FOR POSITIONS IN MATHEMATICS AT SISSA

The Mathematics Area of SISSA is seeking expressions of interest for tenure-track assistant, associate and full professor positions.

We seek outstanding candidates with research interests in any field of pure mathematics and applied mathematics, including mechanics. Researchers with interests in probability, in a broad sense, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The engagement of SISSA faculties consists in pursuing high level scientific research, supervising PhD students, and offering graduate courses. The working language of SISSA is English.

Substantial tax reduction on the salary may apply for six or more years, according to the Italian rules for appointments from abroad, if in possession of specific requirements.

    Disclaimer:

Please note that this is a call of interest, and not a job vacancy advertisement. The Mathematics Area will decide on a later stage whether or not to open positions, and at which level. The actual selection for a position will be based on a public selection procedure pursuant art. 18, comma 1 and 4, of Italian Law 240/2010

  • Postdoc position - Maravall lab

A postdoctoral position funded by BBSRC is available in the laboratory of Miguel Maravall, School of Life Sciences (Brighton, United Kingdom) to study the relationships between neuronal activity, sensory inputs and behavioural signals in the somatosensory cortex of mice.

  • Postdoctoral Researcher position investigating the neuronal control of body weight homeostasis @ at Karolinska Institute Stockholm, Sweden

The objective of the project  is to identify and characterize the central and peripheral circuits directly or indirectly involved in the regulation of body weight in mice. Circuits will be identified using viral techniques, then imaged and manipulated during both homeostasis and metabolic challenges (i.e. obesity). Experimental read-outs will comprise behavioral (e.g. food preference) and physiological parameters (body temperature, lipid oxidation rate, etc) as well as molecular analysis of gene expression (single-cell sequencing and bulk transcriptomics of brain and somatic organ tissue). The postdoctoral candidate is expected to spearhead the project and collaborate with other lab members. The candidate is expected to capitalize on the collaborative environment, availability of cutting-edge resources, and interdisciplinary expertise to achieve the research objectives. He/she should possess a solid academic background in neuroscience and/or endocrinology. Prior experience in working with mice animal models, stereotaxic surgery, transcriptomics, and imaging is a strong plus
